Sand Dollar Spotlights

Janeen & Rick Cardona, Sol Bowls

Two people standing on a sidewalk in front of a business.

Originally from Pennsylvania, the owners of Sol Bowls found their home in Emerald Isle and set out to create a space centered on connection, community, and coastal living. Today, their shop has become a go-to spot where locals start their mornings and visitors stop in to recharge between beach days.

Designed to feel welcoming and familiar, Sol Bowls reflects the laid-back spirit of the Crystal Coast — a place where people gather, connect, and feel at home.

Tourism plays an important role in making that possible. The steady flow of visitors helps support small businesses, create jobs for local teens, and ensure places like Sol Bowls can serve the community year-round.

Every purchase tells a story. When visitors choose to shop local, they’re not just grabbing a bite — they’re supporting the people, the place, and the community that make Emerald Isle so special.
