Max Cardona- Harmony Surf Supply

Max Cardona Harmony Surf
At just 19 years old, Max Cardona opened Harmony Surf Supply with a simple but meaningful goal: to share the peace, joy, and connection he has always found through surfing. As the founder and owner, Max has created more than a surf shop—he’s built a welcoming space where the culture and core values of surfing come to life for both locals and visitors along the Crystal Coast.

Surfing has shaped Max’s life from a young age, offering a sense of balance, self-reflection, and harmony. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, he always knew he wanted to build something of his own. Watching his father work long hours to create businesses rooted in purpose left a lasting impression. When his father offered to partner with him on Harmony Surf Supply, it became a full-circle moment—one that blended family, passion, and a shared belief in building something meaningful.

Max and his family moved to Carteret County in 2020 in search of a fresh start and a life centered around the water. Having grown up surfing in New Jersey, Max knew the ocean would always be part of his path. Since arriving, the Crystal Coast community has played a major role in shaping his journey. From watching his mother pursue her dream with Sol Bowls to learning the craft from mentors and fellow local business owners, Max credits the people of Carteret County with inspiring him to take the leap and open his shop.

Tourism plays an essential role in Harmony Surf Supply’s growth. Each season brings new faces from across the country—and even around the world—into the shop. “I get the privilege of introducing what I love to people everywhere,” Max says, whether through surfboards, apparel, or simply sharing the culture itself. Visitors not only support the business financially, but also provide encouragement, feedback, and fresh energy that fuels Max’s vision.

Looking ahead, Max hopes Harmony Surf Supply continues to evolve into more than a storefront. His goal is to build a connected community of people who love the ocean and the feeling it gives them—and who want to share that experience with others. For Max, tourism helps make that possible, turning first-time visitors into lasting supporters who carry the spirit of Harmony with them long after their vacation ends.
