Mykal Zangwill, Fuzzy Peach

Mykall Zangwill, Fuzzy Peach
When Mykal Zangwill and his family traded snow shovels in Pennsylvania for sand toys on the Crystal Coast, they found more than a new landscape—they found a community eager to welcome them. Since opening Fuzzy Peach in Cape Carteret in 2012, Mykal has helped shape the shop into a vibrant local gathering place rooted in joy, connection, and a genuine commitment to giving back.

From the beginning, the support of Carteret County played a defining role in the business. “It was very evident early on that the community was going to support us,” Mykal shares. “And we were going to do that right back.” That mutual support, combined with the strength of tourism in the area, allows Fuzzy Peach to stay open year-round. Seasonal visitors provide a welcome boost in sales, making it possible to increase hiring, improve pay, and expand the shop’s ability to support local schools, PTOs, youth sports programs, and community initiatives throughout the year.

For Mykal, the heart of the business lies in the relationships built with the people who walk through the door. “What I love most is the relationships we get to build,” he says. “Whether people are here to celebrate, just looking for a good time, or they’ve had a bad day, we get to be a part of that.” Over the years, Fuzzy Peach in Cape Carteret has become a destination for connection—welcoming locals who have grown up visiting the shop and visitors experiencing the Crystal Coast for the first time.

Seeing families return year after year, watching children grow into teenagers, and welcoming newcomers who quickly feel at home—these are the moments Mykal cherishes. “It doesn’t get much better than that,” he says. “Being a fun place for people to gather, no matter the reason.”

Through his leadership and community-focused spirit, Mykal ensures that The Fuzzy Peach Cape Carteret is far more than a frozen yogurt shop—it’s a place where memories are made and where both locals and visitors feel a sense of belonging.
