Trey’s path into hospitality wasn’t planned. He began his career at the front desk, taking the job simply to earn some extra money—and maybe enjoy a few travel perks along the way. But over time, what started as a short-term role grew into a passion. He fell in love with the people, the pace, and the purpose of hospitality, and he has never looked back.
His ties to the Crystal Coast run deep. With much of his family living in Carteret County, Trey grew up visiting the area—from Emerald Isle to Beaufort and all the way to Down East. Each trip strengthened his love for the coast, and he always dreamed of one day calling it home. The hospitality industry made that possible, offering opportunities that aligned perfectly with the place he cherished most. “It’s an incredible place to live and spend your time,” Trey says. “And it’s easy to convince people to come and do the same when they’re on vacation.”
Tourism, he believes, is essential to the strength and vibrancy of Carteret County. “Tourism allows for so many amazing opportunities and fun opportunities for employment,” he explains. “I think about communities that don’t have the beauty and activities that allow them to attract visitors. Some of those places have suffered, but Carteret County thrives because of the attractions, the tourism, and the beauty of our area.”
Through his work at the Beaufort Hotel, Trey helps share that experience with guests from around the world—inviting them to discover the coastal charm, hospitality, and community that first inspired him and continues to inspire him today.
